About Downtown Ottawa
The city of Ottawa, originally established in 1826 as the town of Bytown, is the capital of Canada. Exploring deeper into Canada's history are national museums such as Canadian Museum of History and Canadian War Museum. An outside tour can also be taken at the center of Canada's government - Parliament Hill.
For the arts, the National Gallery of Canada can be visited for the country's largest collection of visual art. The National Arts Centre has theatre programs, dances, orchestral performances, and various other programs.
For the scene at night, Casino Lac-Leamy can be visited for some gambling and to take in some shows. Byward Market located in downtown Ottawa has pubs, live music, dining, clubs, and bars. For a quieter place, Preston Street in the middle of Little Italy can be visited.
For a more nature related experience, parks such as Confederation Park can be strolled through to take in the scenery or enjoy one of the festivals going on. Many beaches are also located within the city to enjoy the summer as well. Other Attractions include: Carleton University, Ottawa International Airport, and Nepean.
